SEMPRE Announces Contract with AFGSC to Deliver Counter-UAS Protection with Partners Dedrone by Axon and Tiami Networks
At a glance: SEMPRE has partnered with the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC), Dedrone by Axon, and Tiami Networks to deploy hardened 5G connectivity and counter-UAS protection across key military command bases. This initiative ensures resilient communication and airspace security, maintaining mission-critical operations even during EMP attacks or terrestrial network failures.

Our deployment at Barksdale is the first proof point of how SEMPRE can bridge public networks and our sovereign, resilient local digital infrastructure. With Tiami’s 5G-based integrated sensing for counter-UAS operations and Dedrone by Axon’s advanced drone detection, this partnership delivers a connectivity and security backbone that ensures warfighter mission assurance in any environment. SEMPRE, a leader in sovereign, survivable network infrastructure, today announced an agreement with Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) to deploy hardened 5G-based connectivity and counter-UAS solutions across key sites with partners Dedrone by Axon and Tiami Networks. This collaboration marks a decisive step toward assured access to data and continuous operations under threat, paving the way for next-generation digital warfighting at the edge.
Under the agreement, SEMPRE will continue the roll out of its cyber-resilient digital infrastructure already deployed at Barksdale AFB, to additional AFGSC facilities in partnership with Tiami and Dedrone by Axon. It integrates SEMPRE’s rugged, EMP-hardened Total Infrastructure Device (The SEMPRE T) to enable private, secure local data flows and processing capabilities even if terrestrial networks and cloud service provider (CSP) platforms fail or become compromised. The nationwide digital fabric, which extends coverage via T-Mobile’s RAN, is designed to auto-failover to the SEMPRE device’s onboard RAN and compute, preserving mission-critical connectivity under duress.
“Our deployment at Barksdale is the first proof point of how SEMPRE can bridge public networks and our sovereign, resilient local digital infrastructure,” said Rob Spalding, SEMPRE CEO. “With Tiami’s 5G-based integrated sensing for counter-UAS operations and Dedrone by Axon’s advanced drone detection, this partnership delivers a connectivity and security backbone that ensures warfighter mission assurance in any environment.”
Tiami Networks, a Sacramento-based deep-tech company, brings its 5G Integrated Sensing and Communications (ISAC) capability to the program. Tiami’s passive sensing technology uses ambient 5G signals to detect, track, and report low-altitude UAS intrusions without emitting any RF energy. Their PolyEdge sensor is designed for seamless integration into resilient base defense networks and can operate even when external backhaul or cloud systems are degraded.
“Tiami Networks is honored to support Air Force Global Strike Command alongside SEMPRE. By combining our passive 5G ISAC sensing capability with SEMPRE’s survivable infrastructure, bases gain a dual communications and sensing function that remains operational even in contested environments,” said Amitav Mukherjee, Tiami CEO & Founder.
Dedrone by Axon, a pioneer in drone detection and mitigation, integrates with SEMPRE’s infrastructure architecture to enable layered airspace security through a variety of sensor modalities. Dedrone’s counter-UAS solutions provide mission-critical telemetry and alerts that can be routed directly into the secure, sovereign SEMPRE network.
“In today’s threat landscape, effective base protection depends on secure connectivity and persistent airspace awareness,” said Aaditya Devarakonda, CEO of Dedrone by Axon. “Integrating Dedrone’s counter-UAS systems with SEMPRE’s hardened network architecture helps strengthen airspace security and supports continuity of operations, even when external networks are challenged.”
Key benefits of the partnership:
- Redundant, sovereign connectivity: SEMPRE’s hardened devices enable local data flows and assured access of applications independent of external backhaul or public networks.
- Hardened digital fabric: The dual-RAN architecture can survive an EMP attack and uses an air-gapped control plane to minimize cyber risks.
- Integrated counter-UAS defense: Tiami’s passive 5G ISAC sensing technology and Dedrone’s active detection/mitigation combine to secure base perimeters and airspace. SEMPRE’s sensor fusion algorithms ensure an optimum solution for detection, identification and geo-location by combining all inputs into the highest probability outcome.
- Rapid deployment and scalability: Modular SEMPRE devices and partner sensors allow for fast roll-outs at multiple AFGSC sites with minimal disruption.
- Operational assurance under duress: Even during network outages, applications hosted on SEMPRE devices and integrated C-UAS systems continue to operate.
